EU and Algeria

Relations between the EU and Algeria are based on the Association Agreement, which entered into force in 2005. The Partnership Priorities adopted at the EU-Algeria Association Council in March 2017 guide the relationship between Algeria and the EU and are based on five priority areas: political dialogue, governance, the rule of law and the promotion of fundamental rights; cooperation, socio-economic development, including trade and access to the European single market; energy partnership, the environment and sustainable development; strategic and security dialogue; the human dimension, including cultural and inter-religious dialogue, migration and mobility.
