Relations between the EU and Lebanon are based on the EU-Lebanon Association Agreement, which entered into force in April 2006.

People in Lebanon, including refugees, are facing multiple challenges including poverty and food insecurity, while having limited access to basic services. Hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah have dramatically exacerbated these vulnerabilities.

Lebanon is a unitary parliamentary democracy whose constitution was enacted in 1926. The constitution provides for a unicameral parliament known as the National Assembly, which consists of members elected for a four-year term by direct suffrage.
