The European Union Office in Kosovo (EUOK) is part of the network of more than 130 EU Delegations across the world and their role is primarily to present, explain and implement EU policy; and to analyse and report on the policies and developments in the partners to which they are accredited. The EU Office plays a key role in the implementation of the EU's substantial financial assistance to Kosovo. The European Union Special Representative (EUSR) offers advice and support to the Government of Kosovo in the political process; provides overall coordination for the EU presences in Kosovo and contributes to the development and consolidation of respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms in Kosovo.
- The European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX)
The European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX) was launched in 2008 as the largest civilian mission under the Common Security and Defence Policy of the European Union. EULEX’s overall mission is to support selected rule of law institutions in Kosovo on their path towards increased effectiveness, sustainability, multi-ethnicity and accountability, free from political interference and in line with international human rights standards and best European practices.

Kosovo* proclaimed its independence from Serbia on 17 February 2008. Serbia does not recognise its independence, whereas there are 116[1] countries that do so far. The Head of State is the President of the Republic and the Head of Government is the Prime Minister. The Parliament is unicameral.
