Transfer of the Treaty of Amsterdam from Brussels to Rome [video]

On 21 October 1997, the Treaty of Amsterdam left the Justus Lipsius building, headquarter of the European Council, in Brussels and would arrive in Rome two days later. The Treaty would be placed in safe in the Italian Ministry for Foreign Affairs, in the Farnesina Palace, with the Treaties of Rome and Maastricht. The Treaty of Amsterdam was signed on 2 October 1997.

On 23 October 1997, the Treaty of Amsterdam arrived at the Farnesina, in Rome, headquarters of the Italian Ministry for Foreign Affairs, after a two-day journey by car from Brussels. The Treaty was received by Lamberto Dini, Italian Minister for Foreign Affairs. Following a short ceremony, the Treaty was placed in a safe with the Treaties of Rome and Maastricht. The Treaty of Amsterdam was signed on 2 October 1997.
