Referencing with EU Style Using Zotero – EC Library Guide: How to import the EU style via a CSL file

Import the EU style via CSL file

A CSL (citation style language) file encodes the rules of a particular variation of a bibliographic style. You can import specific styles via the Zotero Style Repository or, if the desired variation is not there, import via its CSL file directly into a local Zotero installation. The first step is to download the CSL file:

EU Interinstitutional Style 1st edition (author-date format, English).

Then, follow the steps provided there in the tab 'Tutorial'.

You can easily identify the version due to the differences in the respective interfaces. In any case, in both versions, under the ‘Help’ menu option, you will find ‘About Zotero’, where you can confirm the version you are using.

Step #1: in Zotero 7 (on the left) go to Edit → Settings, in Zotero 6 (on the right) go to Edit → Preferences

step 1

Step #2 (Zotero 7 on the left and Zotero 6 on the right): click on the tab Cite (#a), and then on + button (#b), under the styles list.

step 2

Step #3: navigate to the folder where you downloaded the CSL file (#a), select it and click Open (#b).

step 3

Step #4 (Zotero 7 on the left and Zotero 6 on the right): the CSL is installed (#a), and you can already use the correspondent style.

step 4

Tip: make sure the Include URLs of paper articles in references box (#b) is checked so that the references link is always included in the reference list.
