Composition of the Malfatti Commission (1970-1972)1

The Malfatti Commission held office from 1970 to 21 March 1972. Its mandate was marked by the relaunching of the process of European integration: the adoption of a financial framework for the EC and the completion of the Common Market; the development of political and monetary cooperation; and, the opening of talks with candidate countries (United Kingdom, Ireland, Denmark and Norway) in view of the Community's enlargement (source: European Commission, archived web page, accessed 3 April 2024).
